The everyday carry.- Keyboard, screen and radar
- Battery lasts days, USB-C charging
- Bluetooth to your phone for the map
Meshfindr is a pocket radio with a real keyboard. Messages hop from device to device over long-range radio, so you can chat, hunt receivers and leave secret messages without internet, SIM or subscription. Unbox it and your ID is already live.
Text other Meshfindrs directly, device to device.
Every receiver you reach in person joins your log.
Leave a note at a receiver. Whoever passes by next gets it.
See who is in range on the radar, and how far.
You buy the device. That's the whole bill.
There is no account to create and no app to install. Pair your phone later if you want the map; the device works fine on its own.
Your unique ID is printed on the tag and already active. Switch it on and your creature hatches. Its look is drawn from your ID, so no two Meshfindrs look alike.
The radar shows receivers and other Meshfindrs within reach. Messages travel up to a few kilometres in town and hop from receiver to receiver, so every Beacon someone plants makes the network bigger.
Type a message, leave one at a receiver for the next person, or walk up to a receiver you haven't logged yet. Rare ones only show up at night or during events.
Every Beacon on a balcony, roof or pole is a place to find, and the thing that carries everyone's messages. Reach it in person and it goes into your log, with who planted it.
Your level sits right next to your ID on every radar. Collect receivers, meet people, and above all: plant a Beacon that others use. Your creature evolves three times on the way.
| Collect a receiver | +10 XP |
|---|---|
| Collect a rare rooftop receiver | +40 XP |
| Meet someone in person | +20 XP |
| Plant your own Beacon (up to 3) | +100 XP |
| Someone collects your Beacon | +15 XP |
| Your Beacon relays 10 messages | +1 XP |
Same radio inside every one. The difference is how it stays charged, and whether it moves with you or stays put.
The first batch is sold out. Prices shown are from the first batch; the next batch may differ. Ask us about it.
Every Meshfindr ships with a random ID, and your creature is drawn from it: on screen and on your tag. Type another ID and watch it change. Your pick is printed on the tag and reserved on the network.
Built on LoRa, the same long-range radio used by the open Meshtastic network, so it talks to the nodes people already run. Figures are design targets for the concept.
| Radio | LoRa on MeshCore, EU/UK Narrow at 869.618 MHz: the setting the Dutch MeshCore community already uses |
|---|---|
| Range | About 1 to 3 km in town, 10 km or more with line of sight. Beacons pass messages on; handhelds don't, which keeps the air quiet and batteries going. |

| Screen | 320 × 240 sunlight-readable display, green-on-black |
| Input | Keyboard only, no touchscreen. SEND, DEL, SPACE and one-letter shortcuts, always shown on screen |
| Identity | Your creature is drawn from the SHA-256 hash of your ID and lives on screen and on your tag. The housing carries the Meshfindr mascot, Blip. Your own name only goes to friends |

Meshfindr is being built in the open. This is the state of play.
Not right now: the first batch is sold out. Send us a message with what you would like and we will let you know when the next batch opens.
No. Everything on the tag works on the device itself. Pair a phone if you want the big map and your full receiver log.
Nothing. There is no SIM, no data plan and no subscription. Messages travel over licence-free radio.
That depends on buildings and height. Think a few kilometres in a city, a lot more from a high point. Messages hop from Beacon to Beacon, so the network gets better with every receiver someone plants.
Only your friends. Everyone else sees your creature and its ID, like MARKZKI. You become friends by standing next to each other and pressing Q, or by adding an ID.
Yes. Meshfindr runs on MeshCore at 869.618 MHz, the same setting many Dutch MeshCore users and repeaters already use.
Direct messages are encrypted for the person you send them to. Public channel messages are readable by everyone on that channel, like a walkie-talkie.
The Beacon keeps it for a while and hands it to the next Meshfindr that passes within range. You choose who may open it: anyone, friends, or one person.
The first batch is gone. Want one from the next batch, a custom ID, a Beacon for your street, or just curious? Send us a message. We read everything and reply personally.
